This reading, “The America I Love” was about how people struggle to feel part of the culture and tend to feel like an outcast sometimes. Honestly, I sometimes feel that, as a native of this country, I don’t belong places at a certain point because of people reaction to me so I can only imagine how visitors to the United States feel because a lot of people place stereotypes on other and I have to say I’m guilty of that sometimes. Being another race in America can sometimes make you have less pride about being yourself because of your religion. Most view America as the land of opportunity buy I’m quite sure many businesses deny individual’s positions in their company solely based on their race or ethnicity and that’s the reason I don’t like to hear that statement because I have been on both sides of that scale and it’s a very discouraging experience. For example, if there is a spot as a boss in a company and Japanese and white man is equivalent in their resumes and etc, sad to say but there is a good chance the white man will be selected based on his race. It’s unfortunate but it’s something that will be here forever.
